Christchurch and District Sports Council is a federation of local sports clubs, other stakeholders such as BCP Council and interested parties such as Active Dorset.

Role and aims
The sports council circulates relevant material within the network and meets twice yearly to exchange good practice, develop professionalism, drive local sports policy and consider funding applications from both clubs and individuals.
Two of the key aims are to:
- encourage and promote increased physical activity
- assess present and future sport and recreation needs

Join the sports council
Local sports clubs can have a direct input into the future of physical activity in the Christchurch area. It is free to join the sports council. Contact us if your club is interested in joining by emailing the completed GDPR consent form to sportsandrecreation@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.
Sports achievement awards for Christchurch
The sports council coordinates the Physical Activity Network for Christchurch and it's immediate area and also hosts the sports achievement awards.
The annual awards ceremony celebrates local people and their achievements in sport.
There are five different awards that can be won, which are:
- bronze award for county or regional success
- silver award for national success
- gold award for international success
- dedication to sport award which recognises the contribution of an individual to a particular club or to a particular sport
- John Moss Sports Coaches award for an individual's contribution to coaching
Nominate someone for an award
Anyone can nominate an individual for an award. If you know a sports star, young or old, who has achieved success this year, or a particularly dedicated coach or volunteer then nominate them.
