English, maths, computing and science

We offer free classes in English and maths for those who do not already have a grade 4 (grade C) and above. We also offer low priced courses in English for speakers of other languages as well as a range of computing courses. 

We have a variety of online learning options in these subject areas and blended learning to suit all learning styles. You will be required to complete an online application and attend an admission session before enrolling on these courses. Please visit the Skills & Learning website to apply.

Vocational courses, personal development and business training

Whether you can commit to a class every week, or would prefer to access online distance learning, we have a range of courses to suit your needs.

Our Hairdressing and Barbering Academy and our Beauty and Complementary Therapies Academy can give you the skills required to work as a professional hairdresser, barber or beauty therapist.

We also offer Supporting Teaching and Learning courses to those who wish to work as a teaching assistant or an extensive range of teaching, training, assessing and quality assurance courses.

Our Health and Social Care courses are available in a range of options. Study for your diploma in care or take our free Support Work Introduction course in one of our centres. We also have a range of courses available through our distance learning programme.

Apprenticeship training

Apprenticeships are a great way to grow your business and develop a workforce for the future.

We offer a range of apprenticeship training programmes, in addition to other training packages for your staff, in the following sectors:

  • customer service
  • business administration
  • health and social care
  • team leading
  • management
  • supporting teaching and learning in schools
  • hairdressing

We are also developing new programmes to support the Apprenticeship Standards so please talk to us about how we can support your business.

Learning for leisure, health and wellbeing

We offer non-qualification courses in a range of subject areas from arts and crafts to general interest, food and languages. We also offer LivingWell courses which are designed to support your wellbeing, AgeWell for those over 60 and living alone and Everyday Skills, which is specially designed for adults who have a mild to moderate learning difficulty. 

Employability 

We are the largest provider of free Job Clubs and Employability and Learning Hubs in Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and Dorset. These drop in sessions will help you on your road to work. We also offer a range of employability courses where you can pick-and-mix the right package of learning for you.

The Next Steps Service offers free tailored advice sessions to help you understand all the different options and choices you have as well as supporting you to make the right choice for you.
