Christchurch Conservation Volunteers
Why volunteer
If you enjoy the countryside and are concerned about the health of the environment, here's your chance to help. You will pick up valuable skills, keep fit and make new friends.
Who can volunteer?
People of all ages and abilities are welcome and no experience is required. If you are under 16 you will need to bring an adult along with you.
When we meet
We meet for tasks regularly on Tuesday and also the occasional weekend. You are welcome to stay for as long as you like.
- hot drinks are provided at scheduled intervals, just bring your lunch if you intend to stay all day
- weekday tasks usually run from 10am to 4pm, with breaks at 11.30am and 1pm
- weekend tasks usually run from 10.30am to 4.30pm
- we usually have a pause during the bird nesting season and late summer, offering a full programme from September to May
Where we meet
The location of tasks will vary throughout the year, depending on where we need extra pairs of hands.
We cover a large area from Chewton Bunny on the Dorset/Hampshire border to Leigh Common in Wimborne.
Main sites in Christchurch that we visit are:
- Steamer Point
- Nea Meadows
- Stanpit Marsh
- St Catherine's Hill
