The Xchange/Max card
The Max Card is a discount and benefits card for disadvantaged children and young people. This includes those registered on The Xchange. The card gives the owner, and one other person, free or discounted access or benefits at a range of venues and organisations across Dorset and beyond.
Travel discounts for young people and teenagers
Young people can often get cheaper travel. Each bus company may operate on different terms, but most will charge you for a child's fare if you're 15 or under.
Companies such as First Group offer student bus passes if you're in college or further education, so it's useful to contact bus operators to find out your options and the cost.
Apply for a Young Person's Railcard if you want to travel by train and you're aged between 16 and 25; you can save a third on most train fares. You can buy a Young Person's Railcard at some stations, although it's free with some bank accounts.Student discounts
You must be 16 or over and in further or higher education to apply for a National Union of Students (NUS) extra card. There is no upper age limit. The NUS extra card is available to students studying full-time or part-time. You're only eligible to buy an NUS extra card once your course has started. With the NUS extra card you can get discounts and offers on things like:
- eating out
Check out the NUS website for more information.
