Early Years Teachers (EYT)
What is an EYT?
The Early Years Teacher status is a professional graduate accreditation for the early years workforce. It's known as the gold standard for leading practice in early years, and is the only one around.
An EYT or early years professional is someone who:
- has a degree
- demonstrates they are leading and delivering excellent practice. This must be in line with a set of standards to gain EYT Status
What is the role of an EYT?
An EYT will:
- usually take a leading role in a setting
- work with the children
- act as a role model to other members of staff
- use their high level knowledge of child development to meet the needs of every child
How will an EYT or professional benefit my child?
An EYT works as part of a skilled team to meet the needs of each child. Research has shown that early years settings with graduate-trained staff are of higher quality. High quality settings help children reach their potential and support families.
