Pre-Schools And Maintained Nurseries
Care during term-time for children between the ages of two and five years old.
Children usually attend pre-school for morning or afternoon sessions which last between two and a half and four hours. Some pre-schools offer more than one session a day and some are open each weekday.
Pre-schools help prepare children for when they start school. They help children become familiar with routines and provide a safe environment for children to learn about themselves and the world around them.
They care for a large group of children so can be a great way for children to mix and socialise with lots of children their own age. This will help them to gain confidence and increase their social skills.
Maintained nurseries offer a similar service to pre-schools but are managed by the Local Authority.
