COVID-19: support for businesses
The Chancellor has set out a package of temporary, timely and targeted measures to support public services, people and businesses through this period of disruption caused by COVID-19.

Businesses that are in receipt of Small Business Rate Relief
Businesses receiving Small Business Rates Relief will now get a grant of £10,000 (was previously announced as £3,000).
Retail, Hospitality and Leisure sectors
Shop, pub, theatre, music venue, restaurant - and any other business in the retail, hospitality or leisure sector – will pay no business rates for 12 months.
Businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors, with a rateable value less than £15,000, you will have access to a cash grant of £10,000. If you have a rateable value of between £15,000 and £51,000 you will have access to a cash grant of up to £25,000 per business
Local newspaper offices
The £1,500 business rates discount for office space used by local newspapers in England will be extended for an additional five years until 31 March 2025.
If you are a nursery, you will be entitled to the 100% relief for the next year.
Public lavatories relief
100% business rates relief for stand alone public lavatories in England from April 2020.
Administration of these announcements
The Council are awaiting clear and detailed instructions from the Government following their announcement. When these are known further information will be posted here.
